Per figures from Israel, a minimum of 98 detainees from Palestine have perished during detention beginning in October 2023. A rights monitoring body based in Israel has indicated that the real toll is probably significantly higher, due to numerous of unaccounted for detainees in Gaza.

Notable Incidents

Certain fatalities in custody have been publicly known, including a 50-year-old hospital director who died in confinement after four months in custody.

A detainee detained alongside the individual reported that he was brought to the yard by prison staff just prior to his death, clearly wounded and unclothed from the hips downward. His remains has not been repatriated to Gaza.
